Machining operations involving lathes, milling machines, machining centres and other machine tools generate complex mixtures consisting of: oil; coolant emulsion; metal swarf; fine particles; machining residues; light sludge.

The specialised FEVI OIL 140 industrial vacuum cleaner collects the mixture directly from the machine-tool sump or collection area.

The stainless-steel mesh basket retains the larger swarf. An additional 300-micron nylon filter helps separate smaller particles, while the oleophobic foam and Class M hydrophobic-oleophobic cartridge protect the vacuum circuit.

The separated liquid is collected in the main tank and can be discharged through the electric pump and dedicated hose. Separation facilitates the potential recovery of the liquid, but its suitability for reuse must be assessed according to the contamination level and the requirements of the production process.

Who it is recommended for

FEVI OIL 140 is suitable for production facilities that need to optimise and accelerate the maintenance and handling of industrial fluids. It is recommended for:

Discover the main application sectors
  • Mechanical workshops, turning shops and milling workshops;
  • Metalworking companies and departments equipped with CNC machining centres;
  • Routine and extraordinary maintenance of machine tools;
  • Industries using cutting oils or coolant emulsions;
  • Departments producing substantial quantities of metal swarf;
  • Applications requiring frequent emptying of machine sumps;
  • Companies seeking to significantly reduce the time required to manage machining fluids.

Main applications

Emptying machine-tool sumps

FEVI OIL 140 can be used to collect the contents of sumps installed on lathes, milling machines, machining centres, grinding machines, industrial drills, sawing machines and general machine tools. The 140-litre capacity makes it possible to manage significant quantities of liquid without using separate collection containers.

Collection and treatment of emulsions

The model is ideally suited to collecting emulsions containing swarf and residues generated during machining. The internal separation system retains solids in the mesh basket and conveys the filtered liquid into the main tank. Before use, the chemical compatibility of the liquid with the seals, filters, pump and machine construction materials must be verified.

Safe collection of cutting oils

FEVI OIL 140 can be effectively used to collect compatible cutting oils, simplifying the emptying, maintenance and thorough cleaning of machine-tool sumps. It must not be used for flammable liquids, solvents or chemicals that are not expressly compatible with the machine’s structural configuration.

Mechanical collection of metal swarf

The separator basket has a solids capacity of 35 litres and collects metal swarf together with the vacuumed liquid. Before defining the configuration, we assess the shape, length, dimensions and material of the swarf, the presence of sharp elements, the quantity produced, its tendency to become tangled and the hose diameter and length. Very long, stringy or tangled swarf may require dedicated accessories, procedures or pre-separation systems.

Fast maintenance of CNC machines

Periodic vacuuming of the sumps allows contaminated liquid and solid residues to be removed promptly before maintenance operations. FEVI OIL 140 significantly reduces the time required for: emptying sumps, removing swarf, replacing emulsions, cleaning tanks, scheduled maintenance and rapidly transferring the collected liquid.

Why choose FEVI OIL 140

Three single-phase bypass motors: The three bypass motors provide a total power of 3300 W. The 230 V power supply allows the machine to be used in professional environments where a three-phase power supply is unavailable. Airflow is 510 m³/h, while vacuum pressure is 230 mBar. The single-phase configuration is suitable for frequent professional operations where a three-phase network is unavailable.

140-litre tank and 35-litre basket: The main tank can collect up to 140 litres of liquid, reducing the frequency of discharge operations. The stainless-steel mesh basket retains metal swarf and has a capacity of 35 litres. It can be easily removed to dispose of and manage the solid material separately.

Integrated multi-stage filtration: The additional 300-micron nylon filter helps separate the smaller solid particles contained in the liquid. The filtration rating does not constitute an automatic guarantee of complete fluid reusability: the final quality depends on the type of contaminant, the process and the machine-tool requirements. An oleophobic foam filter, which protects against mist and droplets carried by the airflow, and a Class M hydrophobic-oleophobic safety cartridge are installed to protect the motors.

Electric pump rated at 220 litres per minute: The integrated electric pump allows the collected liquid to be discharged rapidly through the dedicated hose. The stated flow rate is 220 litres per minute. The actual value may vary depending on: liquid viscosity, discharge height, piping length and diameter, presence of contaminants and the general condition of the pump.

Automation and accessory compartment: The electric float switch automatically stops vacuuming when the liquid reaches the maximum permitted level, preventing overfilling. The maximum liquid level can be adjusted using dedicated stops. The structure includes a compartment for neatly storing the hose, nozzles and components when moving the machine.

How FEVI OIL 140 works

The three bypass motors generate the vacuum pressure required to collect the mixture of liquid and swarf. The material enters through the 60 mm tangential inlet and is conveyed into the separation system. The process takes place in several structured stages:

  1. The mesh basket retains the larger swarf.
  2. The 300-micron nylon filter helps separate smaller particles.
  3. The liquid passes through the separation system and is collected in the 140-litre tank.
  4. The oleophobic foam and safety cartridge protect the vacuum circuit.
  5. The float switch automatically stops vacuuming when the maximum level is reached.
  6. The electric pump transfers the collected liquid through the dedicated discharge hose.

Technical Comparisons and Range Configurations

The FEVI OIL family offers different configurations to suit the available electrical power supply and the actual volume of the sumps to be serviced.

1. Difference between the single-phase and three-phase versions

Both versions use the 140-litre tank, 35-litre basket, electric float switch and 220-litre-per-minute discharge pump.

2. Capacity differences within the FEVI OIL range

Model Liquid and Solid Capacity Technical Configuration and Use
FEVI OIL 80 Liquids: 80 litres
Solids: 20 litres
Two single-phase motors; power 2200 W; airflow 340 m³/h. Suitable when the quantities are lower and maximum compactness is required.
FEVI OIL 140 Liquids: 140 litres
Solids: 35 litres
Three single-phase motors; power 3300 W; airflow 510 m³/h. The ideal balance between operating capacity and compact dimensions for medium-sized sumps.
FEVI OIL 200 Liquids: 200 litres
Solids: 35 litres
Three single-phase motors; power 3300 W; airflow 510 m³/h. Specifically developed for applications where maximising operating capacity before discharge is the highest priority.

3. Difference compared with a versatile industrial vacuum cleaner

A versatile industrial vacuum cleaner for dust and liquids can collect different materials, but the classic architecture is devoid of dedicated systems for: separating swarf from oil; filtering the liquid; automatically stopping vacuuming at the maximum level through an electric float switch; discharging the liquid through an integrated pump; and managing solids and liquids separately. FEVI OIL 140 is instead designed specifically and exclusively for workshops and machine-tool maintenance.
