Combustible dust, such as wood dust, flour, sugar and certain plastic or metal dusts, can ignite and, under specific conditions of dispersion in the air and in the presence of an ignition source, can generate an explosion. Its collection requires industrial vacuum cleaners specifically suitable for the material and the operating conditions.

FEVI offers solutions for removing combustible dust from floors, machinery and production lines, with configurations to be defined according to the characteristics of the dust, the quantity collected and the classification of the working environment.

The selection distinguishes between ACD vacuum cleaners for areas not classified as ATEX and ATEX vacuum cleaners for classified zones, with marking appropriate to the zone and the dust. Even in a non-classified area, the equipment must be declared suitable for collecting the specific material.

Antistatic filters, conductive hoses and accessories, electrical continuity and earthing must be verified for the complete configuration. The presence of a HEPA filter or an M- or H-class filter alone does not make the vacuum cleaner suitable for combustible dust.

To identify the appropriate FEVI solution, the nature and particle size of the dust, any available explosibility data, the quantity to be collected, frequency of use and emptying method must be assessed in accordance with the manufacturer's documentation.
